Every thing works fine except that the upconversion only works with HDMI, even though high definition can be run through Component Cables. Since I run everything through component video this is a large inconvenience. Other than this it works just fine but I had to give it only three stars because I can't use the upconversion. Had I know that I would not have boughten this DVD player. -- No Upconversion with component cables

This is a excelent product for the Price. It plays just about everything - it does have some problems with xvid sometimes but is still a super value. -- Highly recomend

This unit plays everything I throw at it flawlessly.
From CD's to DVD's to DVD audio DTS and Dolby digital.
Video playback through the HDMI is gorgeous.
Audio quality is enough to satisfy most critical listeners without spending a fortune.
The Philips DVP5990/F7 DVD player is easy to setup and use.
The remote is clean and simple to use not overly crowded with unused or unnecessary functions.
I particularly like the feature of playing DIVX files directly from the
USB thumb drive without having to burn a disc.
It's low profile makes a nice fit to my system .

Excellent Product.
I stopped watching movies on my Laptop. You have the videos copied to your USB Drive & enjoy them on TV directly.
The remote is awsome. Does everything it is supposed to.

Cons.
It has some delay for playing DVD DL disks
You have to have a FAT32 USB drive or Harddisk to connect. This limits the size to 32 GB. But OK. -- Excellent Product
